Dewey & LeBoeuf offers numerous public interest externships and fellowships geared toward engaging both lawyers and law students in significant pro bono work.
Community Service Fellowship
In 2008, our firm established its Community Service Fellowship. Incoming first-year associates may apply to work for one year at any approved public interest organization. Fellows build critical legal skills early in their careers by working for some of the world's premiere advocacy and nonprofit groups. Participating host organizations include the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office, Southern Poverty Law Center, American Civil Liberties Union, Teach For America, The Legal Aid Society of New York, New York City Housing Finance Agency, Miami-Dade County Public Defender's Office, and many other public interest and not-for-profit organizations around the world.
Associate Externships
For lawyers in our New York office, the firm offers:
- A four-month housing externship at South Brooklyn Legal Services;
- A four-month transactional externship at Lawyers Alliance For New York;
- A six-month criminal law externship with the Partners in Prosecution program at the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office; and
- A six-month criminal defense externship at The Legal Aid Society.
Summer Associate Fellowships and Externships
