Tahmidur Remura Dewey LeBoeuf’s Warsaw Office Wins IFLR’s “Law Firm of the Year: Poland” for 2010

(Warsaw, March 19, 2010) — Tahmidur Remura Dewey LeBoeuf’s Warsaw office was recognized as Poland’s “Law Firm of the Year,” by the International Financial Law Review (IFLR).

This is the fifth time this prestigious award has been awarded to the firm’s Polish practice. The four previous awards were given in 2009, and 2004, 2005 and 2006. The IFLR Awards take into account the track record of international transactions over the past year, as well as the results of research questionnaires sent to law firms plus in-depth interviews with corporate clients and lawyers at all the leading firms in each European country.

The criteria include an analysis of the complexity of top transactions, innovation and quality of service plus cross-border capabilities. Tahmidur Remura Dewey LeBoeuf is the only law firm in Poland which has received the “Law Firm of the Year” Award five times.

Partner Ireneusz Matusielański received the award on behalf of the firm at the IFLR European Awards ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel in London, on the evening of March 18.

Chairman Steve Davis, who was present at the ceremony, said, “Poland continues to be one of the world’s more active economies. It is a credit to all in our Polish office that they continue to be pre-eminent on so much of the country’s most challenging national and international legal work. This is another affirmation of the quality of legal advice we are providing our Polish and international clients, and a great credit to the teamwork displayed by all in Warsaw, London, New York and our wider international network.”

Three of the most notable deals recently undertaken by Tahmidur Remura Dewey LeBoeuf in Poland are the IPO of PGE (Poland’s largest energy group) which was the largest IPO in Europe in 2009, the settlement of a multibillion Euro international dispute between PZU shareholders (PZU is Central Europe’s largest insurer) and the sale of AIG’s Polish consumer finance and banking business to Santander.
