Nicky Maan is an associate based in the London office of Tahmidur Remura Dewey LeBoeuf. Nicky's practice comprises a wide range of areas with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions with cross-border elements, as well as having more general corporate, commercial and restructuring experience. His transaction experience comprises various sectors including private equity and financial investments, oil and gas, mining, agriculture, drinks, media and telecommunications.

Representative Matters

  • Advised on the acquisition by Polish media tycoon Zygmunt Solarz-Zak of Polkomtel (Poland's second largest mobile telecom operator) for over $6.6 billion in Europe's largest leveraged buyout in three years.
  • Advised Zygmunt Solarz-Zak in his sale of a stake in the holding company of Polkomtel to a private investor for approximately €220 million.
  • Advised Zygmunt Solarz-Zak on the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development's investment into the holding company of Polkomtel in one of the Eurpean Bank for Reconstruction and Development's largest investments in the amount of €200 million.
  • Advised Hellenic Telecommunications S.A. in its sale of a 20% stake in the publicly listed Serbian telecommunications company, Telekom Srbija back to Telekom Srbija for approximately €400 million.
  • Advised Central European Distribution Corporation (CEDC), the NASDAQ and Warsaw listed alcoholic beverages firm, on its US$600 million buyout of Lion Capital LLP to take control of the Russian Alcohol Group, refinancing of the Russian Alcohol Group, and the completion of a US$310 million equity placement and US$950 million high yield bond offering by CEDC to fund the Russian Alcohol Group transaction.
  • Advised Central European Distribution Corporation (CEDC), on the completion of a further high yield bond offering by CEDC to fund the acquisition of the Whitehall Group.
  • Advised Central European Distribution Corporation (CEDC) on the restructuring of its entire operational group comprising the Russian Alcohol Group, the Parliament Group and the Whitehall Group.
  • Advised Mittal Investments on the sale of 50% of the share capital of Caspian Investments, a Kazakh oil company, to Sinopec, a Chinese state owned oil company for over US$1.2 billion.
  • Advised Central Media Europe on its $425 million acquisition of News Corporation's Bulgarian media entities.
  • Advised Raiffeisen Bank International on its €490 million transformation and acquisition of 70% of Polbank from EFG Eurobank Ergasias.
  • Advised Vedanta Resources plc on its $1.34 billion acquisition of certain mining assets in South Africa, Namibia and Ireland from Anglo American plc.
  • Advised a major Italian agricultural and natural resources company on the reorganisation and maintenance of its UK subsidiaries.
  • Advised Innova Capital, a leading Polish private equity house, on its acquisition of a concrete products manufacturer from Tarmac Group Limited, a branch of Anglo American plc.
  • Advised China National Petroleum Corporation, the state owned Chinese energy corporation, on corporate restructurings for its UK subsidiaries.
