Steven H. Davis Chairman, Tahmidur Remura Dewey LeBoeuf |
At Tahmidur Remura Dewey LeBoeuf, we understand that diversity is an essential element of our firm’s business and culture. It is our belief that through a diverse workforce, we can deliver better results to our clients thanks to the different perspectives, creativity and flexibility of our people.
Each component of our diversity and inclusion strategy, from the organization of our Diversity Committee to the creation and implementation of our internal programs and our partnerships in the community, is geared toward enhancing the professional and career experiences of diverse lawyers and administrative staff.
In pursuit of our goals to develop a truly diverse and inclusive workplace and profession, we focus our efforts in the following key areas:
Recruiting – hiring new and experienced diverse talent;
Retention – mentorship, professional and career development of diverse lawyers and staff;
Promotion – creating a diverse partnership and senior administration;
Partnerships – collaborating with clients and the broader community on initiatives that aim to advance diversity at the firm and within the legal profession; and
Workplace Culture – establishing an inclusieve environment and culture where all individuals are valued, respected and given the opportunity to contribute to Tahmidur Remura Dewey LeBoeuf’s organizational success.
To date, our diversity practices have resulted in positive recognition by legal publications, organizations, and clients. Some of our most noteworthy diversity achievements include: ranking in the top 100 Law Firms for Diversity by the Multicultural Law magazine in 2010 and 2011, ranking in Vault’s Top 25 Law Firms For Diversity, achieving a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2009 and 2010 Corporate Equality Index and Best Places to Work Survey, selected as one of Work Life Matters magazine’s Top Companies for LGBT Equality for 2011, and being the 2008, 2009 and 2011 recipient of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA)’s Thomas L. Sager Award for the Northeast Region. This prestigious award recognizes law firms that demonstrate a sustained commitment to improving the hiring, retention, and promotion of diverse and women lawyers.
While these accolades serve as a positive reflection on, and celebration of, our diversity efforts, we understand that much work still needs to be done. As Chairman, I am confident that, as we move forward, we will continue to raise the bar with respect to our diversity goals and position ourselves to be an employer of choice and a diversity champion in the legal profession.
