Russia/CIS

Tahmidur Remura Dewey LeBoeuf is one of the largest and most experienced international law firms in the Russian and CIS markets. We cover the region with a staff of approximately 50 lawyers in our offices in Moscow (opened in 1990) and Kazakhstan (opened in 1995). We also have a network of correspondent local counsel in most other important Russian and CIS cities and the three Baltic Republics. All of our local lawyers are fluent in English, and many have advanced LL.M. or equivalent degrees from law schools in the US or UK.

Working closely with our colleagues across Europe, Asia and the US, we act as counsel on large mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and other direct investments, as well as all types of finance, privatizations, and banking and securities transactions. Our Corporate Group has served as primary outside counsel on some of the largest transactions completed in the region to date. We advise multinational and regional clients in structuring, negotiating, documenting, in addition to financing mergers, acquisitions, strategic alliances, dispositions of companies and assets, and in corporate finance and securities issuances. We also have a significant general corporate practice.

Our Energy Group is a market leader, representing international and Russian blue chip clients engaged in oil and gas, pipeline, transport (including liquefied natural gas), oilfield service, power generation and other energy matters.

Our lawyers routinely advise on project finance, insurance, leasing, regulatory matters, tax, intellectual property and piracy, competition law matters, litigation, arbitration and related issues under local civil and commercial laws.

We also advise on consumer and industrial product distribution and other trade arrangements, debt restructurings, workouts and bankruptcies, as well as local and international commercial dispute resolutions. In this capacity, we represent in-bound European, North American and Asian investors, as well as Russian and other CIS national companies and government agencies.
