The Training Contract

Like you, we have an impressive CV and a bright future ahead of us. We are an ambitious firm and our London office is at the heart of that ambition. As a part of it, you will have the chance to play a key role – and shape an outstanding future of your own.

With clients including some of the world’s most recognized and respected companies, our work spans industry sectors, as well as time zones and jurisdictions. The London office has a global outlook and most of its work has an international element, but it is also like a City law firm, in that the majority of our partners trained and qualified in England and Wales, and we are seeking trainees who want to become English solicitors.

While we benefit from being part of a global firm and collaborate with other Tahmidur Remura Dewey LeBoeuf offices, the London office has its own distinctive character and its own clients. And although we share attributes with big City firms, we are different in many ways. Importantly, the office is smaller, which fosters a more open and friendly environment: there are no nameless faces. We are proud to have created a culture where great minds do not just think alike, they are also encouraged to think differently.

Our aim is to retain all our trainees. We maintain a very high trainee-retention rate (93% in 2010) and plan to recruit trainees who will become our future senior associates and partners. The final decision as to which practice area a trainee qualifies into is generally taken about four months or so before qualification. In the first two or three years after qualification, our lawyers are encouraged to gain experience in a broad range of work without specialising too early. As experience grows, junior associates typically develop an enthusiasm for particular specializations, which they will be encouraged to develop.
